Wel I am from Germany and I also don't understand why they produce the Scirocco besides the GTI... both in the same price range and both have the 2.0 TFSI engine with 200hp.

ummm i dont think any one person is the stig, they probably just get whatever racing driver is available, they might even just get the test driver from the car company that the car they are testing comes from, that way they get the best performance possible always. either way i know that a few seasons ago the had the stig drive the renault formula one car and after that it was reported that hiekki kovalelen (i cant spell his name) drove the car, obviously he isnt the stig cause hes busy with the formula 1 championship, so thats why i think the stig doesnt have a single identity

Ok now the "There can only be one stig".....agreed - however that does not mean its only 1 person. Eg believe in Santa? As for it being unfair.......its everyday cars, not even F1 is that strict. Basically good drivers drive good cars fast. If the car isn't good enough than it will still show up, driver compensation only works on crap cars really.

supramike i still stand by the version of the conspiracy of who the stig is that i posted before, he is just whatever the best available driver is available, yes i agree with you that different driving styles would affect results but it could also warp the results is the opposite dirrection, different cars require different driving styles, therefore different stigs get the best result from each car
